suzie home maker

I know I haven't been posting like I should, but I've been busy with family and helping with a camp going on in town. But I have been taking pictures and you will be able to see those.

It's the way to anyone's heart

A few days ago I got a little Thailand sick. I was missing the people, sights, the smells, and the food. So to ease those feelings I ate my favorite food in Thailand, yogurt and mama noodles. I even turned on some popular Thai music. I think it helped.
I hope you all are getting some comfort.

We live, we laugh, we do crazy things

Earlier in the week two of my little cousins came over for a few nights. Mom, Guy, and I took the down town to show them around.

I have an idea, but we'll need cool names.

Yesterday our ridiculous heat eased up a good deal. It was hotter where I am then in Phuket where I was. The ease up was needed, cause one more day of heat and humidity would surely have killed me.
So taking advantage of the weather Guy and I biked to up to the college and walk around a bit.

Whatever happened to chivalry? Does it only exist in 80’s movies?

I’m not a huge romantic; it’s just not a big thing for me. In fact PDA past hand holding annoys me. I mean really people do YOU want to see someone making out on the street you are walking on? And the whole Facebook official thing feels a little weird, like people don’t believe you are a couple if your relationship status doesn’t publicize that you are ‘in a relationship.’ Furthermore, I have also notice this rash of people putting more emphasis on the romance and cuteness of their relationship than on its lasting value.
But don’t get me wrong, I’m not like this great cynic of romance. I can take some, and I think everyone could use a bit of wooing in their life. So to prove to you I am not an all around hater of love, I have compiled a list of my favorite romantic movies. Yes I watch and ENJOY many romantic movies. Not so much romantic comedies, but that’s a whole other (and longer) subject.

Before the Sunset/Sunrise
The writing in both of these movies is so honest, so lovely. I am just in love with them.
"You can never replace anyone because everyone is made up of such beautiful specific details"

Love in the Afternoon
How you could believe Audrey Hepburn to be hussy is beyond me. But it's still a lovely movie.
"You know how I am Mr. Flannagn, I'm in the girl in the afternoon"

Sabrina
Don't take the money; hold out for the older brother.
"You have my hand print on your face"

When Harry met Sally
My favorite parts are the little interviews in this movie.
"When you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with someone, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible."

Wall-e
The most innocent of love stories, and it's Pixar.
"Wall-eeeeeeee"

You've got Mail
Possibly Tom Hanks' and Meg Ryan's cutest movie.
"He could be anyone. It could be that guy right there. Those flowers could be for you"

Benny and Joon
Love takes different shapes, this movie shows that well
"You can't bet a human Being!" Catch you on the flip side

What missing link?

It's a day late, but here is what I've found on the Internet.
Forget the fear of being a bad parent, this kid will turn me off having kids. I guess everything is bigger in Texas.
Everyone has a summer food tradition, mine is a special jam. Oh, and 007 is my momma.
I got inspired twice last week I like these pretty things, and some new ideas for my glitter.
I also thought twice about the food chain, and laughed my butt off.
Enjoy all

It's all about the follow through

It's the last day of our little challenge. I learned I don't like to have limited or no say in what I"m wearing, and that I put more thought into outfits than others do. It's not just suspenders with a shirt, it's which shade brown suspenders with what color shirt. I like that, not enough to make a job, but I like it.

This was my jewelry for today. Guy made them from his sea glass, and they look really great.

Keep on truckin

One more day to go in the challenge, and not a day too soon. I think it's safe to say that we are all ready to be done. Bean said she was excited to "wear just a t-shirt and jeans." I'll be happy to pick out my own clothing too. I love the part of my morning that I pick out my clothes, it's energizing and focusing, and it's a part of my day that's just about me.
Today Guy and I went to the art market our town has down by the river every Saturday. We were looking at a lot of the things down there and thought "we could do that." Guy has been wrapping sea glass that he got over the 4th and they look really nice (pictures will be posted soon with his permission), and I've been doing my own crafty thing. We thought it may be as bit too late in the summer to start selling now, but it is now our gaol to start selling our hand made things. I'll keep you all informed as we make steps toward that goal.

Later I had a formal birthday party to attend, so I rocked the floral dress.

Personal philosophy: Clothing optional.

We didn't put a whole lot into each others' outfits today. Our friend's were over and we wanted to spend more time with them. But tomorrow I will need two outfits, one for day and errands and one for my friend's formal birthday party that evening. I have not had any real reason to dress up lately and I am super excited. I don't know how I feel about my siblings picking it out though, but if I can get one on my side the other will follow.

Blood is thinker than cool-aid

We kind of rushed to get today's pictures. Our friends are over for the night, so we all wanted to snuggle into out pj's.
It's been getting a little harder to get outfits each morning. It's one thing to think about your own clothes, but another thing to consider other people's styles'. In the long run I don't think I'll have the patience's.

And we keep going

We put a little more into our outfits today.

None of us had very active days. I had some work which lead to some errands, but otherwise low key.
I am starting to feel a bit weird in the mornings. My routine has been messed up and I have this weird feeling every time I'm about to pick out my outfit. But for the most part I feel I'm in good hands. My siblings know me and see the clothes I wear. Furthermore Guy is a very good artist and very creative, I know he doesn't like bland things.
I've got some old friends coming tomorrow, so I may not be able to post tomorrow. If that's the case, you'll get two posts the next day.

second day

We really didn't put too much into our outfits today. Bean had a sleepover, so we picked her outfits last night. I just added suspenders to Guy's outfit this morning, and my outfit was all about the t-shirt. We didn't even stay in our outfits for the whole day cause Guy and I chose uncomfortable pants for each other. Lame? yes, but at least we are sticking to the challenge.

Here we go

And so it begins. This day was a little more than stressful. The whole three way outfit picking is not as smooth as I would have thought, but I am hanging in there.

Bean had a concert to go to with a friend. So Guy and I chose the Band's t-shirt and just ran with the color. The vest and skirt are buys from Ragstock.

I realized this challenge was not fully fair when I started looking at Guy's clothes. I was like "OK what shirt goes with which jeans?" But I think I did ok with the hat from Target. Lord knows where the other clothes came from.

I was second guessing the whole challenge thing when I was waiting downstairs as my sibs were in my room choosing my clothes. I don't know if you can tell, but the hat is plaid and the pin on my waist says "Junior zookeeper." Thankfully the sibs cut out the Lord of the Rings pin.

So far I have learned I micromanage outfits.
