I can tell that we are going to be friends

Ok, I know I lied about the other post, but I was just to tired.
So here is yesterday's post.

Lately I've been wearing rather boring clothes. Today's outfit was no exception.
I have to wear pants to work, and when you're wearing pants everyday it's hard to be inspired. I can't wait until its warm outside to I can wear some skirts.

I had just found the corgos a few days ago and figured is should wear them.

The top is a layered thin tank over my trusty gray shirt.
As I said, boring.

Now, I have a slight problem.
My hair is in that in between stage.
No longer the short hair cut it used to be, it has become slightly unmanageable. I cant fully pin it back and I cant keep it down unless I straighten it.
I hate straightening my hair.

But whatever.

Here are my latest projects.
Hat #1
A black and white drawstring hat.

Hat #2
I call it my monster hat.
Does it need a nose?

And finally, my quilted cuff.
I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out.

Peace.

searching for meaning without a map

This one is gonna be short, but I intended to post again later.
Anyways, a friend told me about pandora.com. You type in an artist or song and they find a station with that kind of music.
I am addicted.
I've been looking for some more music, and this has people you wouldn't think of.
But I'm still looking for some music.
I don't like country, rap from after the mid ninties, and metal, other than that I'm open.
Any suggestions?

Maybe he has something against cults.

So this is my outfit for church this morning.
Besides the face it's pretty normal.

But the shoes are what give its "snap".

Oh, what? you want another look.

Now, I rarely do much in the way of shoes. In fact, I rarely even wear shoes.
But I haven't worn these for awhile.

On a completely different note.
I need a new sewing machine.
The one I'm using now is my mom's.
It's a 20 sum year old Kenmore.

That was my Sunday.
Peace.

Wanna see me tap?

Thursday was rather successful.
It was something like -25, so we didn't have school.
It was also third Thursdays, which means there was a sale at the thrift store in town.
Here are a few of my finds.

There are no words to describe how I felt when I saw this.

A large, woman's, white coat.
definite potential.

I intend to leave this piece just the way it is.

A long sleeved, turtle neck, dress with shoulder pads.
I got it, if only for the look on my brother's face.

And a every simple classy dress.

For the rest of Thursday and on into Friday I worked on a few of my sewing projects.
My fingers are so sore from all the needles.
But anyways, here are some pictures of those experiments.

So I take the shoulder pads out of the woman's jacket and put on some color.
Kind of like a flappers jacket.

I couldn't decide what Kind of waist line on my dress, and I couldn't seem to get the elastic on.
So I settled for belts.
This makes the dress a little nice.

And this gives it a drop waist.

I made a few jean bags.
This is just a picture of one.

I intend to do some more today.
Stay tuned.
Peace.

DIY or die

I am a big fan of do-it-yourself and recycling.
So it was just a matter of time until I found threadbanger.com.
It really is the best of both worlds. Since I do most of my clothes shopping at thrift stores it did get a little hard to find clothes that really fit. I finally decided I would buy what I wanted and go from there. 75% of the clothes I wear are recycled in one way or another, and since I’ve learned how to sew my wardrobe has become more…um… interesting. Some of my clothing goes through what I call the bedazzling. My hats are the clothing items that endure the most of my sewing abuse.
But my wardrobe is not the only thing I am revamping.
My bed room is getting some long overdue attention. For years I have been gathering pictures and making collages for my walls, and I am only now starting to put them on the walls. But because I have so many of them I will not be able to all of them on the wall. So right now I am going through and wedding out the ones I really can’t part with. I think I’ll still end up giving many of them to my younger siblings.
I intend to add some pictures as some of my projects progress.
Peace.

Want a hurts donut?

I made some donuts as a part of my Christmas cooking this year. I made them a little different, so I thought I'd share them with you.
I used biscuit dough, and cut out the middle with a round cookie-cutter.

That way I could make both donuts and donuts holes

I put some vegetable oil in a pan and set it to medium low heat.
Make sure you keep track of the heat, it makes it hard when it gets to hot.

The donuts turned out big at first, and that made them a little hard to fry.
So I cut them in half, and that made it a lot easier.

You can really put whatever you want on the donuts.
I did some frosting and some chocolate.

This is the pre-decorating stage.
And pre-Katie eating them stage.

those are the donuts.
Peace.
