This summer has involved some really great finds for my wardrobe. We found another Goodwill near home, and it's cleaner and easy to find your way around. I've always loved Goodwill. I love sifting through the vast amounts of clothing and finding something special at a low price. I can't just "drop in" at a Goodwill, I need to spend time there, going over everything. Yesterday, while at the mall, I realized the buying clothing new is just not appealing to me. I walked by Macy's, Nordstrom Rack, and Hot topic without ever feeling the urge to go in and see what they have. However, when I walked by Ragstock I couldn't help but make a B-line towards the vintage rack in the back. All of these years of thrifting and buying used clothing has made me hesitant to spend more then $10 on a piece of clothing. The most expensive thing in my closet is my prom dress, which was bought used for $34 (it's a good thing I didn't spend a whole lot because I skipped prom for a concert.)
Anyway, my summer finds:

Mom will be proud of all of our family bonding

One of my all time favorite parts of summer is the zoo. I spend the whole day there, and I see everything. I know all of the animals and I have all of my favorite. Last week my younger siblings and I went to the zoo, and it really was a lovely day. The weather was nice, the zoo was not too crowded, and we even made it to the bird show.

Light Up Your Life

When I was younger I went through a mod-podge phase. Mod-podge + recycled glass jars + tissue paper = an occupied middle school age Faith for hours. My favorite thing to make was baby food jars covered with a light colored tissue paper, and a tea light inside. I loved the way the light would shine through the overlapping layers of pink and yellow paper.
My crafting has progressed since my modge-podge days, but still, some of my favorite handmade pieces are light related pieces.
Here are some ideas for your own diy light fixtures.

Stop and smell... whatever you really want to

No longer will I be trapped inside because of the painfully hot weather. But instead, I will go out, enjoy my summer, and find adventure (as long as my ceiling fan and air conditioning work at the end of the day). I will bike, hike, and go on evening walks. I will go to the beach, gardens, and even to the zoo. I will drive around in a car with no air conditioning and meet up with friends in the great outdoors.
My most recent excursion was to my obligatory summer trip to my favorite garden, the Sculpture Garden. And despite the heat and sun, I enjoyed my day.
