This is a Blog Guest Post© by Faith's biggest, brightest, and best brother, Eric.
I am visiting Minnesota, where I used to live and deliver pizzas (see below).
Now I live in Wisconsin. I don't deliver pizzas anymore but I do eat them occasionally.
Tonight we are watching Die Hard (a Christmas movie) as a family.
Earlier today we went sledding. My dad hurt his shoulder and I hurt my hip but I don't think that anything was broken.
Tomorrow I will hopefully go to Hogan Brothers (for food).

There's magic in the air
Well, Christmas is almost here. All the kids are home, and we are crowded in the den watching The Muppet Christmas Carol. I've bought and wrapped all my gifts, and they are under the tree waiting for tomorrow morning when they will be opened.
Here are the last of my leading up to Christmas pictures, they are this years gingerbread houses. We used Graham Crackers instead of real gingerbread, 'cause I did not want to make gingerbread.

"Santa Claus has the right idea. Visit people once a year." - Victor Borge
Cooking is a necessary part of Christmas, and every year I take great joy in picking out new things to try.
I have my favorites that I make yearly, but I always pick out one or two things I have not made before. This year I made gingerbread, and oatmeal cranberry white chocolate cookies. Both turned out well.
Gingerbread:
3/4 cup butter, plus extra for greasing
heaping 2/3 cup dark brown sugar
3/4 cup light corn syrup
finely grated rind and juice of 1 small orange
2 extra large eggs, beaten
2 cups self rising flour
scant 1/2 cup whole wheat flour
2 tsp chopped candied ginger or preserved ginger
Preheat the oven to 350f. Grease a 9-inch square deep cake pan and line the bottom with nonstick parchment paper.
Place the butter, sugar, and corn syrup in a pan and heat gently, stirring until melted. Remove from the heat.
Beat in the orange rind and juice, eggs, flours, and ground ginger, then beat thoroughly to mix evenly. Stir in the chopped candied ginger.
Spoon the batter into the prepared pan and bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, or until risen and firm to the touch.
Cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then take out and finish cooling on a wire rack. Cut into squares and decorate with pieces of candied ginger.
Serves 9
Oatmeal cranberry white chocolate cookies:
2/3 cup butter, softened
2/3 cup brown sugar
2 large eggs
1 1/2 cups old-fashioned oats
1 1/2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 6-ounce package dried cranberries
2/3 cup white chocolate chips
Preheat the oven to 375f.
Beat butter and sugar together in a medium mixing bowl until light and fluffy. Add eggs, mixing well.
Combine oats, flour, baking soda, and salt in a separate mixing bowl.
Add dry ingredients to the butter mixture in several additions, mixing well after each addition.
Stir in dried cranberries and white chocolate chips.
Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheets.
Bake for 10 to 12 minutes or until golden brown.
Let cool on wire rack.
Serves approximately 2 1/2 dozen

Christ is so cool. He's born, I get presents. He dies, I get candy.
Christmas break has begun, and the siblings have started coming home. The house will be full and load again.
In addition to my Christmas to-do list, there is the really long Thailand to-do list. Both are terribly daunting
On top of making and getting to my to-do lists, I have started say some of my goodbyes. I really hate goodbyes, and I am really bad at them.
So the multitude of tasks, and the goodbyes have made the last few days a little long.
However, with the Christmas spirit all around, nothing can get me down.
Speaking of Christmas, here are pictures from this years tree cutting.

Well aren't you a busy little bee
I am fully aware of how late these photos are, but I have been quite busy.
I have applied for my visa for Thailand, and I just bought my plane ticket.
I am crazy excited, this trip is finally feeling real.
I will be leaving for Phuket, Thailand in January, and I will be there for 5 months.
The blog will most definitely continue. In fact, it will probably be the best way to keep up with me. And I will do my best to post regularly.
But anyways, here is the first instalment of my holiday pictures.
We start with Thanksgiving.

I was so grateful to see everyone there giving me support. I fully enjoyed chatting with you all, some of whom I have not talked to for quite some time.
Bless you all.

Quick! Call the plow!
It snowed Saturday night. I was hanging with some friends, so I was not the only one playing in the snow. It was late, and beautiful.
The next morning, I was awake in time to take pictures before things melted and got gross.
I know that snow means shoveling, bad driving, and wet feet. But it also means layering, sledding, and picturesque scenes. And right now, I am only looking at the good things. I'll let the downsides of winter hit me later.
In addition to enjoying the snow, I have been sewing. Mostly just hemming people's pants, but also some little projects. I'll post pictures of them soon.
I'll catch you on the flip side.

You look like you're a boy, but you're not.
As promised, here is my new hair. I really like it, mostly because of the way my earrings look with short hair.
p.s. that red thing on my shirt is an "I Voted" sticker, cause I voted.
