Light Up Your Life

When I was younger I went through a mod-podge phase. Mod-podge + recycled glass jars + tissue paper = an occupied middle school age Faith for hours. My favorite thing to make was baby food jars covered with a light colored tissue paper, and a tea light inside. I loved the way the light would shine through the overlapping layers of pink and yellow paper.
My crafting has progressed since my modge-podge days, but still, some of my favorite handmade pieces are light related pieces.
Here are some ideas for your own diy light fixtures.

Stop and smell... whatever you really want to

No longer will I be trapped inside because of the painfully hot weather. But instead, I will go out, enjoy my summer, and find adventure (as long as my ceiling fan and air conditioning work at the end of the day). I will bike, hike, and go on evening walks. I will go to the beach, gardens, and even to the zoo. I will drive around in a car with no air conditioning and meet up with friends in the great outdoors.
My most recent excursion was to my obligatory summer trip to my favorite garden, the Sculpture Garden. And despite the heat and sun, I enjoyed my day.

“Don't grow up too quickly, lest you forget how much you love the beach.”

My eldest sister is in from Florida, her, my younger sister, and I did some sister bonding yesterday. We spent the day at the beach. Since the heat broke its been really nice to be outside, and yesterday was no exception.

I made this adorable shoulderbag last night, and I'll be use to post pictures as soon the computer decides it likes the SD card again.

Here are the pictures from the aforementioned  family reunion. There was a farmers market, boat tour, and slumber parties. It was great to connect with family that I rarely get to see, and it was nice to get out of town and into the city.

Tomorrow is my day off, and it looks like a day at the beach for me.

Happy Birthday America!

This Fourth of July , and the subsequent weekend were great. The fourth itself was pretty low-key, mostly because the heat just makes you want to punch things. Fortunately the heat wave has finally broken, which means a more pleasant summer job and more outside summer adventures.
Anyway, this weekend has been my family reunion. Minus my first sunburn of the summer, its been a good weekend, even including a boat tour of the Mississippi. Its great to see all the little quirks in my immediate family magnified by 20+ more people.
Here are some quick shots from the fourth, and I'll upload some from the weekend in a bit. In theory the outfit was perfect for the fourth (red, white, and blue and all), sadly I learned that a pencil skirt is not the best choice for Fourth of July attire.

Whats in your closet?

I love these bluefly closet confessions videos. I really love anything that gives me a look into how and way people dress the way they do. There is a fair amount of diversity in the videos, Kimora Lee Simmons, Bethenny Frankel, and Harley Viera-Newton are all featured in these videos.
Here are just a few of my favorite.

It's been a while. But summer is here, and that means there is time to blog. I have a list of things I plan to do this summer (literally a list, and I'll share it soon), and I'm getting excited. The first step is to get my room in order (I have only unpacked maybe a fourth of my stuff). After that I'll fill you all in on my summer plans, and some very exciting news.
But I'll leave you with some of my nicer outfits from this school year.
